Earlier this month, I had the privilege of presenting at The Prouty Project’s May Jammin’ Session on the topic of “Metrics and Dashboards for Faster, Wiser Decisions.” I used a fun analogy to compare and contrast the corporate world to the world of professional sports, highlighting that often we spend more time analyzing data from our home town sports teams than we do our businesses. We often know more statistics about our favorite player than our own sales team. We have more information for coaching a sports team (albeit from our most comfortable chair) than for coaching the people in our organization.
